ABOUT ANDREA

Andrea Guay is an explorer and painter rooted in place, drawn to the delicate balance between land, water, and time. Her process is anchored in observation, historical context, and gesture—allowing material and mark to become a visual language of place. Through her practice, she seeks “stillness amidst turbulence,” capturing moments when natural forces converge and hold, revealing both the magic and calm at the heart of landscape.

Her recent work spans three series. Luminous Intervals captures fleeting light and atmospheric shifts, transforming moments of resonance into deeply evocative paintings. Shoreline offers small-scale, mixed-media pieces that reflect the quiet cadence of land meeting water—intimate studies in texture, tone, and reflection. Continuum shifts scale and pace, with expansive canvases and ink works that trace elemental forces like wind, erosion, and glacial motion. Together, these works invite slow looking and evoke a layered sense of place, time, and emotional terrain.

When collaborating with clients or working with students, she thinks about the big-picture and quickly sees the possibilities. She moves others to action, or creates commissioned work, in a way that aligns the work with her clients.
